Sold Their Soul

Dan:

Interesting how many empty, padded blue seats were surrounding the plate at Yankee Stadium . . .  to start a playoff game. Quite bush league, especially for Yankee Nation (or whatever you want to call it). To make it worse, LB Sabathia has a man on third, gets to two strikes and two outs, and everyone back there except one standing guy doesn’t know how to act and just sits on their butts . . . probably too busy texting their friends to tell them where they are sitting to watch the actual game. Looks like Yankee Stadium is becoming Anaheim or Tampa. Just sad.

IT’S YANKEE TIME!!!!!

THIS IS OUR TIME OF YEAR YANKEES FANS!!!! It’s good to be back playing meaningful baseball in October, and it’s time for another ring! The Twins will be just a speedbump. We will sweep them – and that is a guarantee!

Dan, you are a typical, delusional Red Sox fan. You are too much of a homer to see what is right in front of you. Do you remember the Yankees SWEEPING the Sox easily two weekends ago? Who has won the last 9 out of 10 meetings between them? Yes, the Yankees have a MUCH better lineup, but they also have just as good pitching and bullpen. Or maybe you don’t remember the last series.

But it won’t matter, because THE RED SOX WILL BE BEAT BY THE ANGELS!!! That, too, is a guarentee. This Sox team has too many flaws. And after the Yanks crush the Angels in the ALCS, we’ll beat the Cardinals in the World Series. Looking forward to ring 27.

AL Playoff Preview

Dan:

Dave, you and your Skankee fan cohorts must be relieved. Instead of the possibility of facing the Tigers’ Justin Verlander twice in a short series, you get to feast on the Twins – who have all the momentum in the world, but lack the depth of Yankee talent. Not to mention they haven’t won a game in New York since July 2007. Enjoy your breeze through Minesota.

Meanwhile, I expect we’ll make quick work of the Angels. They scare me a little bit, just because they seem “due.” But we have much more talent and depth, and should sweep them (if not take it in 4).

Then it’s Red Sox vs Yankees, Good vs. Evil. LB Sabathia has been a let-down in the playoffs before. And the rest of the Yankee pitching staff is far from intimidating. The Sox have better starting pitching and a better bullpen — and our batting line-up isn’t that far off.

Sox over the Yanks in 6. Enjoy your early vacation.

THE CHAMPION!!!

Dan:

Dave, I’m going to ignore your stupid Yankee crap for right now, because I’d like to announce a historic event. The Dansville Domination – owned by moi – recently captured its first-ever NEF fantasy baseball championship. I defeated a slew of competitors, including my low-life brother Jason (a 4-time champ). To mark the occasion, I made the following video. Enjoy . . .

NEF Championship from Dan Mathers on Vimeo.

Welcome to Yanktober

Last weekend the Yankees smoked the Red Sox, proving to everyone that they are the best team in baseball. So much for Boston’s superior starting pitching and bullpen. Now the Yankees are poised to march back to their rightful place as champions of baseball.

Mark my words that the Red Sucks WILL LOSE to the Angels. They are stumbling into the playoffs, and have been stumbling most of the season. I’m not worried about the Tigers. Verlander is the only one who worries me, and I’d take CC Sabathia over him any day.

I see it being the Yankees up against the Phillies in the World Series and the Yankees winning in five.

Yanks-Sox Sept. 25 – Series Game 1

So much for the Red Sucks and their better
rotation. It is great to see Joba, our number four pitcher,
pitch great against the sucks after struggling lately. And it
is even better to see Boston’s new ace Lester struggling
badly even before he got nailed with that line drive. Sox
fans again prove themselves as yahoos, saying they are the
best team by winning against the Orioles and Royals, then
getting beaten down by real teams. They won’t get past the
Angels.

LET’S GO YANKEES!!!!

Yeah let’s do that. Whoever has more fans comment by next Friday gets the logo in the background for a week or two. Sounds good. Red Sox Nation is like Rhode Island in a Yankee Universe. Put up my pinstripes now.

Dan, my dim witted friend, I read your other blog and you are out of your mind. You need to take off your Red Sox glasses. There’s no way the sox are the favorite and the Yankee rotation is much better. Beckett has been terrible the second half of the season, and Sabathia is better than anybody on the Red Sucks. Burnett and Lester are about even, but I’ll take Pettite and Joba anyday over Bucholz and Matsusucka. And our hitters are so much better. You guys can’t compete with a lineup with Jeter, Tex, and A-Rod. You have nobody on that level. Papi is done now that he’s not on steroids. J.D. Drew sucks. Pedroia’s a dink and Youklus is ugly.

You win two World Series and you suddenly think you’re legit. Talk to me when you have won 26. Oh wait, Boston never will.

And So It Begins . . .

Dan:

After many debates about the merits of our teams, my Yankee “friend” Dave and I have decided to take our rivalry to the blogosphere. I’ve been blogging for a while here with Fans On The Field, where I blog about the Red Sox and baseball in general. Dave has been eating Cheetos, living in his mom’s basement, and naming his cat Derek Jeter. I mean, he’s a Yankee fan, after all. I’m not even sure he can write. We’ll find out.

Anyway, we’ve decided to start this blog to battle online, and to let people join in. Besides comments, if you have something to contribute that you think is blog worthy, send it to fansonthefield@gmail.com. (Please put ‘Red Sox vs. Yankees” in the subject.)

In the meantime, we have to figure out what kind of background the site should have. We currently have an MLB background. I say no to a Yankee background. Dave says no to the Sox. I think we should leave it up to the people. How about we have a vote? If anyone comes to the site, if more Sox fans vote or leave comments, it’ll be a Sox background for a while. Or if (god forbid) more Yankees fools . . . excuse me, I mean fans . . . vote or leave comments, it will be a Yankee background. Sound fair???

Game on . . .

(Represent, Sox fans.)
